In similar lines with that of CAT 2017 slot 1,
the second slot consisted of tough DILR questions for aspirants.
Speaking to PaGaLGuY, aspirants from across the country reveal that
there was no respite from the horror of DILR even in the second slot.
Rhythm Agarwal, Thapar University
engineering graduate from Patiala, was taking the CAT for the second
time this year and found the overall paper to be easier than last
year. “I personally found Quant to be quite easy. But, as the trend
goes, DILR was very tough and tricky to be solved in the limited time
frame. I solved around 18 questions in DILR, but I attempted quite a few
without knowing the exact answer,” informed Rhythm. He was not
satisfied with the mouse that he was given in the test centre as it was
'getting stuck and needed three to four clicks for an impression', which
took quite a lot of his time in the process.
For Jabalpur's Ankit Patel, there was
no such trouble in the exam centre. He was taking the CAT for the third
time this year. Scoring 85 and 92 percentile in the last two years,
Ankit is hopeful of getting a better percentile in CAT 2017. “ I solved
around 30 questions in English, 11 in DILR and 23 in Quant. I am
expecting a lower cut off this year as well in DILR, keeping in mind the
tough nature of the questions,” said Ankit.
Dheeraj Dhurve from Mumbai sounded
confident of his performance, who is taking the examination for the
second time. Last year Dheeraj got a call from IIM Ranchi, but he wanted
to get into a better college. “Compared to previous year, I could
definitely say it was a better exam for me. Except for DILR, which is
a tough nut to crack every year, all the other sections were
comparatively easy,” he said. Dheeraj solved 30 questions in English, 20
in DILR and 28 in Quant.
Bangalore's Prateek Verma also found
the DILR section to be quite tough and could solve only 15 questions. “I
found English and Quant section questions to be quite easy and doable
in the specified timeframe. It was DILR that bothered me the most,”
stated Prateek.
